CTICC wins Gold Green Supplier Award at IMEX 2012

The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) was announced as the winner of the prestigious IMEX Green Supplier Award at the IMEX 10th anniversary Gala Dinner in Frankfurt’s Alte Oper on 24 May 2012.

The Green Supplier Award recognises environmental excellence and innovation within the meetings industry and represents the highest accolade for environmental responsibility among meeting supplier.

According to CTICC Chief Operating Officer, Joey Pather, the centre is excited and honored to be the recipient of this prestigious award. Being recognised at an international level for our commitment to transforming the meetings and events industry to a sustainable one, reinforces to our staff and clients that the innovations and efforts they make every day are impactful and meaningful.

The centre won the award for its commitment to sustainability and for joining forces with a local exhibition organiser to host a sustainable exhibition, The Green Expo. Chris Naude, Chief Executive Officer, Three City Events says, “We are extremely proud yet humbled by the recognition given to The Green Expo by IMEX. It is not easy to rise above the surface in a world flooded with green offerings and options. Three City Events has been actively greening all of our exhibitions for some time and of course went the extra mile for this one. We were careful in our selection of venue, opting for the CTICC, who share the same green values and has a track record of working towards a more sustainable future”.

CTICC Green AwardIn presenting the Gold Award to CTICC, IMEX Chairman, Ray Bloom, commented on the impressive standard of entries received in this category this year: “It demonstrates a clear goal across the sector to drive environmental change and ensure that this remains at the forefront of all that we do. Awareness of environmental issues continues to take precedence today and those suppliers that have green credentials listed as a high priority gain a notable advantage over their competitors,” he explained. “Well done to CTICC for setting an exemplary standard in this category.” Photo: Ray Bloom from IMEX (left) and Megan Arendse from CTICC (middle)

The winner of this award will be announced in the next few months.
